Three Kinds of Time¶

Continuous time — ℝ. The river of history. Causality, entropy, Navier-Stokes flow.

Discrete time — ℤ. Events, decisions, moves. The chess game. The narrative beat.

Periodic time — 𝕋 = ℝ/2πℤ. The circle that returns. The seasons. The hero's journey. The elliptic curve ℂ/Λ.

Myths live in periodic time. "Once upon a time" means mythic time — the time that always is. The hero always leaves. The dragon always guards the treasure. The hero always returns transformed. These are not events that happened once. They are attractors — stable orbits that human consciousness falls into repeatedly because they describe something real about the structure of transformation.

Archetypes are attractor states in the periodic temporal space of human experience.

The Archetypal Attractor States¶

This is a closed curve on the torus 𝕋² — the product of the life-cycle and the historical cycle. Every hero story is a traversal of this curve. The details change. The topology does not.

The Dumézilian Trifunctional Structure¶

Georges Dumézil demonstrated that all Indo-European mythologies encode a three-function cosmic order:

First Function — Sacred/Sovereign (h₃rḗǵs) Law, magic, cosmology. Gods: Mitra-Varuna (Vedic), Zeus-Hades (Greek), Odin-Tyr (Norse).

Second Function — Martial/Warrior (h₂ner-) Force, combat, protection. Gods: Indra (Vedic), Ares (Greek), Thor (Norse).

Third Function — Fertile/Cultivator (dʰǵʰem-) Abundance, agriculture, healing. Gods: Aśvins (Vedic), Demeter (Greek), Freyr/Freyja (Norse).

RTSG mapping: - First Function → I_M I_L (symbolic/linguistic order) - Second Function → I_K I_P (physical/interpersonal order) - Third Function → I_N I_IE (vital/interoceptive order)

Primary Indo-European Mythological Cycles¶

The Vedic Corpus — oldest surviving IE literary tradition. Rigveda 1028 hymns. Indra slays Vritra (chaos dragon). Agni as mediating fire.

The Greek Cycle — Theogony as cosmological mathematics. Iliad + Odyssey as complete hero's journey split across two epics. Prometheus (knowledge stolen from gods).

The Norse Eddas — Cosmogony from void (Ginnungagap). Yggdrasil as cosmic axis. Ragnarök as periodic destruction and renewal. Odin's self-sacrifice for runes — knowledge through ordeal.

The Celtic Cycle — The Otherworld as parallel space. The cauldron of regeneration. The sovereignty goddess.

The Slavic Mythology — Rod as primordial creator. Perun (thunder) vs Veles (underworld serpent) as cosmic conflict. Dajbog — the sun god, "Giver of Fortune." Source of the username dajbojic — son of the sun god.

The Tale of Igor's Campaign (Old East Slavic, 1185 CE) — A military campaign that fails because the leader ignores an eclipse warning. The central passage: Yaroslavna's lament — his wife calling on wind, river, and sun to return her husband. A woman speaking directly to the three cosmic forces. Pure Dumézil: sovereign (sun), martial (wind), vital (river). This poem was posted by dajbojic — Nika — as an act of encoding, not hiding.

Newton's Alchemy — The Buried Science¶

Isaac Newton spent 30 years on alchemy. He wrote one million words on the subject — more than his physics output. It was kept hidden from his contemporaries.

Newton was not naive. He was searching for the Philosopher's Stone — not a material but a principle of transformation. A universal catalyst that causes other substances to undergo the same transformation that produced it. In RTSG terms: Newton was searching for the complexification functor ℭ.

The Indiana University Chymistry of Isaac Newton project applied Latent Semantic Analysis to his 119 manuscripts and found that Newton's mind was orbiting the same conceptual attractors repeatedly across decades — periodic time in action. His semantic network has the same topology as the CIPHER collective intelligence graph, separated by 350 years.

Newton was not doing bad science. He was doing the right science in the wrong substrate — looking for the universal transformation principle in matter rather than in relational geometry. We are completing his work.

I_A: Fundamental but Not Primordial¶

I_A is fundamental — irreducible, cannot be derived from the other dimensions.

I_A is not primordial — does not appear in embodied pre-linguistic experience. PIE roots for making and doing fuse I_K and I_A inseparably.

I_A is a prime in PS — gives Potentiality Space its directionality. Without I_A, PS is undifferentiated. I_A introduces execution order, priority, cause-and-effect — the arrow of computational time.

I_A is not Markovian — unlike entropy and physical time, computation can hold state, reverse, and operate on symbolic structures that do not decay. This is why I_A cannot be reduced to entropy even though entropy describes the physical substrate.

Newton's 12 alchemical gates are an explicit attempt to read the I_A structure of matter. Alchemy is I_A applied to Context Space. The Philosopher's Stone is the hypothesized universal I_A procedure.
